This project was created during the course of my training with ZURI in 2021. The aim of it was to create an application whereby people can donate clothes easily from anywhere in the continent without any hassle.

ROLE : User experience researcher, User Interface designer.

DESIGN PROCESS

In the course of designing the app, the aim is to make it easy to navigate for all users irrespective of their level of education. Users that are quite busy are able to reach out to less privileged individuals through charity organisations with the aid of third party delivery system in order to send items across. They are also able to select various categories of clothes to donate and start a conversation with a click on the chat button.

Therefore, in order to gain a better understanding of its values, purposes, and goals; I adopted the five stages of design thinking process to work with, that is, empathize, define, ideate, prototype and test.

User Research :

In order to create an application that is desirable, functional, and accessible, I conducted a qualitative research through live interview with five individuals users using the zoom app. The interview notes included questions relating to how the users donate clothes, why they donate or not and whether they enjoy donating if there was an easier way to go about it . However, responses derived from the interview enabled me to have a deep insight of users needs, pain points, and goals.

PAIN POINTS :

Rejection of worn clothes.

Logistics issues.

Stressful and time -consuming.

Too busy to give out clothes.

Inability to afford new clothes.

Lack of a centralised platform for donation.

Entitled individuals/ recipients.

Some charity organisations hoard the clothes or sell them.

User Personas

User Flow :

The user flow showcases the steps a user go through in order to donate clothes easily on the app.

Low Fidelity Prototype

Lo-Fi Prototype is a skeletal view of the app and it enables me to focus on key functions, elements, and actions before implementing the visual design.

High Fidelity Prototype

Upon completion of the lo-fi prototype, I proceeded to creating a hi-fi interactive prototype using FIGMA which shows how the app works as well as designing the mockup.

CONCLUSION:

Working on this project gave a hands-on experience to go through the various engaging stages of User Experience design. In addition, users were able to navigate easily between selecting an organisation, categories of clothes and are able to donate easily.
